Finding the time to take care of yourself or even have a second to yourself can seem very difficult as a mother, especially the first year of your child’s life. You are exhausted, and your baby depends on you for pretty much everything, but finding time to take care of yourself is so important and much needed! There are several things you can do to de-stress yourself and be in an all around better mood, even if you don’t have much time. Take a bubble bath and maybe throw some lavender in there too. Workout, working out instantly puts me in a better mood. It’s hard to want to work out when you are exhausted but doing so will actually give you more energy and you are guaranteed to feel great afterwards. Take a break from social media, this should be very simple to do because it takes no amount of time. Take a nap!!! Instead of cleaning your house today, while your child sleeps take a nap, even if it’s just 20-30 minutes. Getting an adequate amount of sleep is crucial for your health and well-being. Simply just step outside a few minutes and get some fresh air. Fresh air and sunlight are essential for your mental and physical health. Go out for a girls night or a date night with your partner. It’s not always easy to find the time or to find someone you trust to watch your kids but it is very important to at least get one day/night a month to yourself with no kids. Just because you are a mother doesn’t mean you can’t do things for yourself. Doing things for yourself will actually make you a better mom! Do your makeup, your hair, get your nails done. I’m sure most people agree that when you make even the simplest change to your everyday look, you feel better about yourself. Take some deep breathes, drink water, and then drink some more water!!! Read a book, have a drink, smoke some weed, listen to your favorite music or song. Buy something for yourself. Whenever we see something cute for our kids there’s barely any hesitation to buy it but we barely ever choose to buy something for ourselves instead and we need too! Eat some dessert, who doesn’t love a good dessert?! I know I do and I know it instantly puts me in a better mood. Pray, talk to God, and try not to be so hard on yourself. You are a great mom, but you are an even better one when you are happy and you take care of yourself. So today, do something for YOU, do something that makes YOU happy. You deserve it.
